The results of climate on human life is massive, and the effects of radical global warming on human health is probably going to be terrible. Infectious illnesses may spread as the tropics dilate, sicknesses migrate from a ways off, and pathogen-killing winters shorten and warm. Extraordinary weather will interrupt public sanitation, on top of killing without delay. The air will be contaminated by smoke, and the water by blooms of pathogenic organisms. These are dark prophecies, and they may not happen. Projections may be wrong, as so often before.

Infectious sicknesses

It is possible that global warming will cause migration, potentially mass migration. Livable land may shrink, and need to be shared. Migrations, like marching armed forces, regularly spread illness.

Intense weather

Intense weather makes a mess of modern sanitation systems. The result of Hurricane Katrina shows this obviously. If extraordinary weather becomes more frequent, sanitation around the planet will most likely decline. Public sanitation is what makes tap water drinkable, streets walkable, restaurants loyal. Public sanitation promotes health, and its decline is obviously linked to global temperature rises.

Cholera is a fast and lethal water carried illness, which is easily treated in good conditions, and typically avertable with good public health. Global warming could promote its spread.

Cryptosporidiosis is a water based illness that’s sometimes mild in healthy folk, but kills the weakened, as an example those with other illnesses or in cancer treatment. It’d spread if the general level of human health declines. Heat waves already weaken and kill. With global warming, they’re going to get worse. Floods and droughts will interrupt the food supply.
