~Yoga @ Well Being Well~

Yoga The Universal Toolbox

I believe that yoga, practiced well, is at odds with our modern expectations of instant gratification. Yoga has very deep ancient roots, and only, in truth, offers you what you are prepared to offer it, meaning, in short, that the tools will not leap out of the toolbox and fix you. Join me regularly in class, stay focused, diligently practice yoga consistently, then you will see its deep benefits!

-A Teacher Remains A Student-

My personal yoga journey, or any ones for that matter, isn't one that allows me to think that my 200 hour Hatha & Vinyasa Flow teacher certificate is the end of my journey. I have practiced T'ai Chi & Yoga for many years, I consider myself an environmentalist, I have been a vegetarian for many years and latterly a vegan.

I am somewhat of an ascetic, believing that study & understanding wisdom is more rewarding than owning lots of stuff. I am drawn to learning how to be healthy, so my study, and fascination with yoga & modern scientific exploration of the many facets of health, make me a perpetual student!

I am drawn, not only through my own experience, but also out of a deep empathy, to know what happens when we experience trauma & what tools are at hand to repair that damage.

Yoga in many ways definitely plays a huge roll as a resource for healing trauma.

the modern word Yoga is drawn from the Sanskrit word Yuj meaning to Yoke or Union.

Just as for a beginner, owning a yoga mat & some yoga pants won't make you fitter or calmer!

For you & for me it is the same! Work & commitment to learn from the deep well that is the ancient art of Yoga!

-Find Your Inner Warrior-

There is I believe, a warrior in all of us, the insecure, the introvert, the angry, the arrogant, the aimless. A warrior with precious gifts to share with the world!

When I say warrior, I don't speak of a killer, a soldier, I mean more, a leader, as in a village in the past, you would have particular figures who organised, nurtured, looked out for, held wisdom.

Humble, sincere & prolonged study of yoga, in my experience increases our confidence in our abilities, as we progress and deepen our practice. It can bring us so much more than the pure physical act of carrying out postures that we at first encounter in a class.

Sticking at anything, for enough time (It is said to take 60 days to form a habit) leads, scientifically, to the burning of new neural pathways, to change, to commitment. Old habits and behaviours are replaced! A better you begins to emerge, calmness comes easier, focus more often happens, empathy is increased.

Then, maybe, the gifts we have to share with the world, from the heart of our inner warrior, can emerge!
